Are these events supporting 501(c)(3) charities? If so, which ones?

We are still establishing ourselves as a non-profit at this time, and have full intention of working alongside an impressive and extensive list of fellow charities. We intend to frequently rotate our charities to have the largest possible outreach in our community. We haven’t officially approached these organizations yet, but we are eager to work with organizations that align with: cannabis reform, incarcerated artists and societal reintegration, indigenous activism, trans initiatives, limited-income support, safe use and harm reduction, wildlife rehabilitation, and so much more! An official list will be published once we have solidified relationships.

What sets you apart from all the other furry conventions already available?

We’ve got an exciting answer for you! Our events will heavily gravitate around the heart of charitable giving, to build up the community through our events, and not the other way around. We want to change the perspectives of those questioning our fandom’s motives and nurture the premise of growth through progressive change. We will use our convention as a venue for celebrating the push for good.

How will I know where my funds are going? Will you provide proof that my funds were donated?

As stated, we are very aware of the requirement of transparency in our community leadership, and we fully intend to keep our promise of being open and honest. We’re researching the idea of financial reporting at the end of each fiscal year and will provide proof of any generated receipts for our donations to our partnered charity recipients.

Where can I check for regular updates?

Our website is currently under development and will be supported by our incredible PR team that will keep up with engagement and updates through our various social media platforms. You can currently follow us on Twitter!

What if I’m not financially able to donate, but would like to help this cause?

We’re glad you asked! MCE is steadily adding additional dedicated staff and volunteers that align with its ideals and mission. If interested, keep an eye out for our recruitment postings coming soon! Until then, the best way for you to help at this time is simply spreading the word. Following our social media will be the easiest way to stay updated and informed about our most recent activity.

How did you come to the presently set goal on GoFundMe?

There are many working parts behind developing any project, and ours is unique in which we not only are ramping up for a full blown convention. We are also pursuing a trademark, venue(s), merchandising, and so much more! As mentioned above, we are researching how to do end-of-year fiscal reporting to be as transparent as possible to help with clearing any confusion on where these funds will go.

Where will the donated funds go if the con falls through?

We’ve deeply considered this as well and are happy to state that we are all in favor of selecting off our non-profits list to begin dispersing among our charity friends. This list will also be accessible to the public upon further solidification of partnership!

I don’t agree with these charities. Is there a way to change where my funds go?

We really hope that you’d like to reconsider, as the charities we have selected are all incredible and align with our mission and vision. Thankfully, there are endless possibilities out there that are readily available to accept your funding if you would like to contribute to their cause in a more direct way. Thank you for considering them, too!
